Our base fixed channel is one of the most popular profiles that we supply. It is fully adjustable from one side only. This allow you to fix from the balcony side only without having to buy any expensive lifting equipment. The glass is fixed within the profile using a wedge based system. This means that it is fully adjustable when having to align your panels of glass.

Our base fixed Flex Fit channel is manufactured by our German supplier Onlevel and we distribute this profile for them. It is branded by them as 6010 based fixed channel. When fixing the channel within the profile, you should use a 12mm countersunk fixing.
The 6010 balustrade system is fully tested to a line load test of 0.74kN when fixed to steel or concrete using 15mm, 17.5mm or 21.5mm glass. When using 15mm toughened glass in our 6010 base fixed channel you should also use a handrail if you are protecting a fall of 600mm or more.

The height of the glass when suing our 6010 Onelvel base fixed channel depends on whether or not you have a handrail. If you have a handrail you should deduct 13mm from height. The distance from the bottom of the profile of the 6010 onlevel channel to the bottom of the glass is 16mm. The overall height of any balustrade is 1100mm. Therefore if you have a handrail, the height of the glass will be 1100 – 16 – 13. Our technical team are on hand to advise you on any questions that you have on our 6010 onlevel profile.

As standard, out 6010 Onlevel channel is supplied in a natural anodised finish. It is a dark silver. As an alternative, we can powder coat the profile to any colour that you require. We can also cut the 6010 profile to your exact dimensions. If you do require powder coating, the profile should be cut before it is sent to the powder coaters to avoid the powder coating cracking.

Flex Fit Base Fixed Channel Systems

Our Flex Fit side fixed channel can be used to fix to the side of any structure. It is sold with two holes in either leg of the channel. If the channel is exposed, then the outside leg of the channel should either be covered with cladding or capped to ensure that the exposed leg is not visible. The side fixed channel is sold with clamp kits to secure 12mm, 13.5mm, 15mm, 17.5mm or 21.5mm glass. Our technical team can advise you on the appropriate glass thickness for your application.

Our Flex Fit channel is also branded as 6011 balustrade channel and is manufactured by our German supplier, Onlevel. The 6011 side fixed channel is ideal for installations when you would like to avoid fixing to the top of a roof for instance when you are trying to avoid piercing through outer membrane of a waterproof roof.

The glass is secured within the 6011 side fixed channel with a wedge based system which is fully adjustable. Using our Flex Fit tool, you can secure and then adjust the glass within the channel. Where you have a long run of channel, you can then align the panels within the profile without the need for a handrail or glass stiffeners.

When measuring the height of your glass within the side fixed Flex Fit 6011 Onlevel channel, you need to ensure that from finished floor level to top of the glass (or handrail if you have one) is 1100mm for any eternal balustrade. Once the profile is fitted to the side of the building, it will usually sit beneath finished floor level. The height of the panel will need to be adjusted to reflect this.

Fully adjustable, it allows you to adjust each glass panel by up to 40mm in relation to the base channel.

Only requiring access from one side of the balustrade, with just a simple movement of your hand, this tool helps knock the wedges into position once the glass is plumbed, and also allows for the removal of the wedges when uninstalling the glass panels – ensuring both your glass panel and the channel is not damaged in the process. The glass adjustment tool features a wheel which smoothly installs the rubber gaskets without the need to continually bend down making installation faster and neater.
