Our Quality Fit channel is one of our most popular solutions for frameless or infinity balustrade. Its single biggest advantage is its ease of installation. The glass is secured into the profile with a dry glazed clamping system that simply requires you to secure the glass by tightening a torque screw.
It is important that your frameless or infinity channel system meets building regulations. Our Quality fit channel system can accommodate 12mm, 15mm and 17.5mm toughened laminate glass. If your frameless or infinity channel is protecting a fall of 600mm or more you are required to use either a laminate glass or a handrail.
Your frameless or infinity channel must meet the required line load test. This is the weight per meter that your frameless of infinity channel can withstand before it starts to deflect (or move) within the profile. The line load test your frameless of infinity channel system uses, depends on the application. Our Quality Fit infinity or frameless channel is fully tested up to a line load test of 0.74kN when fixed to steel or concrete. This is the required line load test of a domestic balcony at height ( over 600mm).
If you are using a handrail, we can supply the slotted tube that will sit on top of the frameless or infinity channel system. From a safety perspective, we would always recommend using a handrail. Not only does this substantially improve the structural integrity of the balustrade but also protects anybody from injuring themselves by falling on the glass that is secured within the frameless or infinity Quality Fit channel system.
As an alternative to a handrail, we can also supply glass stiffeners. They are “H” shaped fixings that sit between the top of each panel of glass. They have a material effect on the structural integrity of the balustrade.
